Whitney Houston – The Soul-Pop Diva Will Always Love You
April 19th, 2010
Oblioo Whitney Houston is inarguably one of the greatest singers in the entire history of music, yet she can’t get a break or pardon from the press, bloggers and tabloids lately as she is currently performing around the world on her “Nothing But Love”
While making recent stops in Britain, critics have been very harsh. For the record, Divas such as Ms. Houston aren’t made; they’re born with the God gift to bring down the house with their vocal range and power. Whitney is evidently one of these rare talents that come very few and far apart amongst the crowded music scene. Her tour is appropriately titled “Nothing But Love” because it’s all about the love that she has for her craft, music and fans.
David Benoit’s EARTHGLOW Scheduled For April 20 Release
April 14th, 2010
Oblioo Since launching his recording career in 1977, David Benoit, a pioneering force and contemporary jazz’s most accomplished pianist/composer, has recorded over 25 solo albums, for which he has received five GRAMMY® nominations. As the musical heir to original Peanuts composer Vince Guaraldi, his prolific repertoire includes several prominent Charlie Brown related projects, and his expanding slate of orchestral music endeavors includes his ongoing role as conductor of the Asia America Symphony Orchestra and leading eminent orchestras throughout the world.
For his latest recording, Benoit headed to the mountains near Saratoga to become an artist in residence at Villa Montalvo. Finding peaceful solitude and discovering fresh inspiration, the veteran composer and pianist wrote “Botswana Bossa Nova” and “Will’s Chill,” two unique pieces unlike any he had done before. These became the foundation for the overall global music concept behind his stirring and provocative new CD EARTHGLOW, his first set of original material in four years to be released on April 20, 2010 on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group.
Behind “Green Day: Rock Band”: Sneak Preview and Full Track List
April 14th, 2010
Oblioo Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool were so devoted to making June 8th’s Green Day: Rock Band, the trio let themselves suck — again and again. “We filmed a bunch of animations of the band failing and the crowd booing them,” Harmonix Project Developer Chris Foster tells Rolling Stone. “It turns out when Green Day saw the finished version, they loved it. They thought it was hysterical.”
The key to making the game, which will feature three full albums (21st Century Breakdown, American Idiot and Dookie), plus a handful of the group’s earlier songs, was the details: the band insisted on including stage divers and crowd surfers, the innovative video segments currently rolling on the 21st Century Breakdown tour and key elements from their early days (keep an eye out for their first van, the Bookmobile). The avatars’ tattoos evolve; the guitars are scratched in the back where the bandmembers’ belt buckles have etched in deep scars. And the band is convinced fans will dig the effort: “Seeing ourselves through the lens of this video game has been mind-blowing,” Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong says in a statement. “Green Day: Rock Band undeniably manages to capture the best moments and work of our insane careers. We can’t wait for our fans to experience it.”
Taking Back Sunday Drummer Sparks Band Reunion
April 14th, 2010
Oblioo Taking Back Sunday‘s Adam Lazzara credits a “crazy idea” from drummer Mark O’Connell with bringing about a reunion of the group’s original recording lineup for the first time in seven years.
After touring to promote 2009′s “New Again,” Lazzara tells Billboard.com, “Everybody was just, like, unhappy, and so something needed to happen. Then Mark calls me one day and says, ‘Look, man, I’ve got this crazy idea. What would you think about…’” bringing guitarist John Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper, who made TBS’ 2002 debut, “Tell All Your Friends,” back into the band. “I was like, ‘Man, there is no way. I don’t see how that could work. I haven’t even talked to John in all these years.’”
Carrington S. Scott Says His Music Will Stay Independent For Time Being
April 14th, 2010
Oblioo After shopping for record labels and receiving offers from records labels Mr. Carrington S. Scott says that his music route will be independent for the time being. “The route that I am going in with my music ministry is independent. It will be more of a crossover appeal to my fans. The people will love the ‘Kingdom sound’ in a greater way ” says the gospel artist.
Scott explains deeper why he wants to go into the independent route, “There is a lot of freedom when you are independent. I can reach the congregation without someone standing behind me suggesting how the album should sound. I can even continue to work under my production imprint ‘Carrington S. Scott Enterprises.’
Powerful And Emotional Music By Endear Romance
April 12th, 2010
Oblioo At the age of 15, AJ was handed a guitar by his mother as a trade-off for a haircut his mother did for a friend. As he began to play, the passion grew inside him. He taught himself how to play without any professional training. What began to grow in him was the desire to create rich, dynamic and thought provoking music.
AJ uses acoustic sound whenever possible. This version gives you authenticity, raw emotion and a genuine view of who AJ is. Two years after writing “Drop the Anchor” in October, 2008, he began seriously focusing on writing and recording full time. His mission was “to create an outlet and understanding for people who hurt, are alone, or have lost someone before”.
