Hugh Laurie signs record deal with Warner Music entertainment

Grammy winner Joe Henry to produce New Orleans blues album with mainstream appeal 26th July 2010, London – Hugh Laurie, the award-winning actor, writer, director and musician has signed a recorded music deal with Warner Music Entertainment (WME), an imprint of the Warner Music Group. Laurie is the star of Fox’s hit drama series ‘House’, the world’s most-watched TV show, a role which has garnered him two Golden Globes, the People’s Choice and Teen Choice for Best Actor, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Television Critics Association Awards and five Emmy nominations.

R.E.M. have completed recording their 15th studio album with producer Jacknife Lee at Berlin, Germany’s Hansa Studios and will mix the disc in the fall. The band have penciled in a spring 2011 release date for the follow-up to 2008’s Accelerate, and while Michael Stipe and Co. haven’t offered up much in terms of details about their new LP, “postcards” from the studio posted on their official website have given fans the impression that recording in Berlin has influenced the band’s latest work.

Avenged Sevenfold Wrap First Disc Since Drummer’s Death

Avenged Sevenfold have survived a hellish six months since the death of their drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan in December 2009, but their upcoming disc Nightmare was actually 98 percent completed before the 28-year-old fell to an accidental drug overdose. “It’s the darkest, the coldest, most numb album I’ve ever heard, because we went there during the hardest time, basically with tears in our eyes, and recorded the songs our friend had helped write,” guitarist Zacky Vengeance tells Rolling Stone. “Having to listen to the demos he played on, we put up a shield. We turned the rest of the world off, marched in there, and went to work. Looking back, I don’t even know how we did it.”
